…from Tzoumerka to Ioannina…

Descending from Pramanta via Agnanta we reach Plaka, the village with the famous historical arched bridge, the biggest in Balkans. The river Arachthos crosses the village. Here visitors can enjoy rafting and follow the majestic route of the river bed, they can spend the night in one of the hostels and visit the Monastery of Panaghia Plakiotissa, which was founded after a great miracle of Panaghia took place there.
Leaving Plaka and the alternative road that leads to Arta through beautiful villages such as Rodavgi, with its traditional fκtes, the cosy hostels, the Women’s Society and the Folklore Museum, we are heading to Ioannina, following an impressive route. On our way, we come across Kalentzi, a village that once was the center of Tzoumerka, and Helliniko with the Monastery of Tsouka that is devoted to Virgin Mary and constitutes the most important place of pilgrimage in the prefecture of Ioannina. Further down, in the plain of Ioannina in the village Katsikas one can buy local, traditional products from the Female Association of Epirus before heading towards the national road that provides exits to Ioannina, Igoumenitsa, Arta or Thessaloniki.
